Hello everyone,

Preparations are being made and the date is set:
Saturday August 12 2017 is AMA National Model Aviation Day.
FFF is sponsoring the RC Air Show starting at noon to be held at the "new runway and much improved" Mosquito field. All local AMA Clubs have been invited to this show.

This will be the 4th air show that FFF has sponsored and the 1st air show that I know of to be held at mosquito field. We will be promoting this air show with our float in this Saturday's Bear Paw Parade so the general public will be invited... we hope to have a great time and introduce many folks to our hobby and build a positive rapport with the community.

We will be discussing and making final plans at the Club Meeting next Thursday 7-20-17
If you can't make the meeting but would like to help please leave a message here or call.

This will definitely be the biggest event that FFF has put on since the loss of Wells Fargo field in 2015, it's time to turn a new page for our club. We are getting a new runway at a field that has been a challenge to fly at in the past. We have a new opportunity NOW and will need a lot of help...

Update:
A dozen members / helpers came to the pre-show meeting on Saturday and confirmed the show schedule. Three picnic tables, several plywood tables and most of the yellow barricades have a fresh coat of paint on them now. Still need to paint safety run stands blue and three interior shed walls white the fourth wall has been painted a biege accent -- there is paint on site and some rollers so folks can stop by and help brighten up our equipment for the show...

Mike B. has one coroplast plane (bomber) ready for the paintball event and I have 2 of the blue delta Flyers (fighters) ready. We need to double this number (or more) before the show...

Still waiting for the Park Dept & Strert Dept to begin....

The Parks Dept. has finished the runway work at Mosquito, and it looks great! It's the full 80' wide, smooth, and compacted, and they even put in a ramp from the pits to strip for the planes to taxi up. I'll post some photos when I figure out how to do it.

The event was successful in that everyone who attended seemed to have a great time even though the weather was not cooperative. Most of the scheduled demonstrations were accomplished although there were several changes made at the time of the show...

We only used about 1/3 of the supplies and materials that the club bought for the show. A poll was taken late Saturday afternoon with the general consensus being that we should have a redo air show in September and try this again. The next scheduled event at mosquito field is set for September 10. We will be discussing and voting at the club meeting this Thursday if we should confirm a second show date..
